join from CAPCA to abundance

Dear Participant!

Thank you for your interest in participating in a unique course in Citizenship and Entrepreneurship. We are Fionnathan. Last year 2024, we ran CAPCA. Now we are recruiting participants for a new course, From CAPCA to Abundance, to run from September 2025 through March 2026.

Through the generous support of the Department of Children, Disability, and Equality, and through Rethink Ireland, we can offer full scholarships to this pilot project, to both adult individuals with Down syndrome and their chosen supporters, with all costs covered.

We hope to recruit primarily in the Galway area, but are open to adults with Down syndrome or other cognitive impairment around Ireland or even other countries, bringing a support person(s) with them to participate on the course. If you don’t live in the Galway area no problem, we will design your own actions, so you can participate in your local area.

This form should be completed by an adult with Down Syndrome (DS), and a support person without DS, prepared to accompany the first person on all legs of this journey. If you are an individual (either with or without DS) would like us to pair you up with someone, please get in touch by email fionnathan.productions@gmail.com

Fields marked with "*" are required.

We know that lives are busy. If you need to share supporting between two supporters, it will be your responsibility to keep both informed as we move through the process.

If there's a second support person, please enter name and email, and any other comments.
The 2025 CAPCA portion of the project meets on Thursdays starting September 11th. The first seven weeks will be online from 6.30pm - 8.00pm. Online, eLearning homework (approximately 1 hour) will be assigned between each week.

Then we'll have two in-person meet-ups, in a central Galway location in early November. These will include a lot of craft making, with each participant leading a project they have prepared. These will be full evening sessions, with a meal included.

When you submit this application, you are telling us the both of you plan to attend all of these meetings.

Please comment below if you have questions or reservations. Otherwise leave blank.
We will run a Craft Store in Galway from mid November through the end of 2025. Course participants will have a significant retail apprenticeship over these six weeks. You will get to choose times that suit you.

When you submit this application, you are telling us that you both plan to participate fully in this action.

Please comment below if you have questions or reservations. Otherwise, leave blank.
During this period, there will be another series of eLearning sessions online to complete when you choose, approximately 6 more hours of homework.

Additionally, there will be an option of three in-person meet-ups, to plan for the business projects in the new year, determining the start-up teams (4 to 8 people in each) and themes that will be use for the pilots. Each participant will attend at least one of these meet-ups. (There are no Thursday online meetings in November & December.) When you submit this application, you are telling us that you both plan to participate fully in these actions.

Please comment below if you have questions or reservations. Otherwise leave blank.
For the first three months of 2026, we will again meet online each Thursday, from 6.30pm - 8.00pm, starting January 8th. On alternating weeks, the entire project group or the smaller teams will meet. (The teams might choose to meet at other times, and/or in-person.) There will be homework between meetings.

When you submit this application, you are telling us the both of you plan to attend all of these meetings.

Please comment below if you have questions or reservations. Otherwise leave blank.
As well as creating a supported business plan, each team will be supported to create a video recorded business story, telling about yourselves and your pilot project. This will be filmed at a time and place convenient to each team.

When you submit this application, you are telling us the both of you plan to work with your team to record a business story video.
Please comment below if you have questions or reservations. Otherwise leave blank.
To promote and share about this exciting project,  we will be documenting it throughout, taking pictures and videos of the work we do together to share online. This means your name will be linked to the posts and you will be present in photos and videos. We ask you to agree to having your photo, audio recording and / or digital video taken.

I understand that images on websites and printed material can be viewed throughout the world and not just in Ireland and that some overseas countries may not provide the same level of protection to the rights of individuals as EU/Irish legislation provides.

Please write "We agree" below, and / or comment if you have questions or reservations.
The project will end at an event in Galway on or near World Down Syndrome Day (March 21st), where each team will present their ideas, etc. to business experts, investors, mentors, friends and family.
When you submit this application, you are telling us the both of you plan to attend and help present at this event.

Please comment below if you have questions or reservations. Otherwise leave blank.
During the training we are communicating using WhatsApp. That way you can get support from our team and from your peers. Are you able to join?
